By the time you get to be a grandma, you’ve put a heckuva lot of miles on your feet. Most of us hope to have many more miles to go, though, and we want that mileage to be racked up in comfort. And style, too.

Which is why Therafit Shoes are perfect for grandmothers. They’re built for comfort yet are fabulously fashionable. I recently received a pair of Therafit Shoes for review and can fully attest to both claims.

Let me first say I have a very difficult time finding comfortable shoes … that I can also walk in. That may sound strange, but as someone who has had MS (hence, funky feet) since 1992, I’ve tried many a shoe that is comfortable when I put it on, but as soon as I take a few steps, they seem heavy. Or so light I feel I might trip without being weighted down at least a smidgen. Or just wonky in one way or another.

Not so with the Therafit Annie Women’s Slip Resistant Leather Slip On in Black Floral I received from the company free for review. I was elated with the way the shoes felt on first try … and the numerous steps from then til now.

The fact the slip-resistant, slip-on shoes were not only comfortable but cute too delighted me in a way folks who aren’t challenged by shoe shopping may not understand. But trust me: It was a magical moment for me.

And here are a few personal points on why Therafit shoes make my whole body (and more) happy:

• The “Personal Comfort System” that allows personalizing the comfort level for each foot — which is pretty amazing when MS affects each of my feet differently. The three adapters in each shoe can be removed or inserted as feels right per foot.

It really is that simple. I did find that using the eraser end of a pencil to push the adapter out made it even easier.

• The shoes have a “permanently bonded antimicrobial barrier” that protects staining, smell, and deterioration caused by bacteria, fungus and such.

• The style I received for review elicited a couple (positive and flattering) comments that they look like shoes nurses might wear. Which is fabulous because they are shoes nurses might — and should — wear! I’m not a nurse, but shoes that are intended to keep folks who are on their feet long hours comfortable and physically safe are exactly the kind of shoes I want and need and am delighted to now have.

• My Annie shoes are as pretty inside as they are outside.

• They wipe clean as can be, even after being worn out in a recent snowy mess — before I had taken most photos for this review.

• My Therafit shoes are comfortable standing and walking, of course, but they’re also so very comfy that I left them on while relaxing. Which is not typical for me as my shoes are usually the first to go when I’m kicking back.

Now, this being a review and all, I must be honest about one (minor) negative point on the Therafit shoes I received for review. That being that they’re a smidgen too big. I typically wear a size 7.5 or 8, depending on the shoe. Therafit sizing allows for half sizes, and my choice was a 7.5-8 shoe. I figured that would be perfect. Well, they run a bit large, it seems, so my shoes are slightly loose. But, thick socks remedy that, and I’d much rather my shoes be a bit big rather than a bit small. I suggest that when purchasing Therafit shoes you consider they do seem to run large. If you do have issues with the size after purchasing, Therafit is fabulously accommodating and offers free exchanges.

Overall, I’m quite pleased with Therafit shoes. So much so that I recommend them as a gift — for the holidays or any day, for grandmothers and others to add to their wishlists or to purchase for themselves as a well-deserved, comfy treat for one’s tootsies.
