Friday briefs: On precious witnesses, my holiday ride, and what the heck is this?
Precious witnesses
My middle daughter, Megan, and her husband, Preston, were both baptized as babies. Separately, of course. Last weekend the two of them confirmed their commitment to Christ together, publicly declaring as a couple they will forever live their lives for Christ.
Brayden, Camden, and Declan were front and center to witness the event.
Anticipating Mommy and Daddy's turn.
Captivated by the immersion.
I can't even put into words the extent to which seeing my grandsons, holding onto one another while firmly focused on Mommy and Daddy publicly confirming their faith, makes my heart sing. Halleluiah for this special moment, this special family.
My holiday ride
Yesterday I received delivery of a 2017 Jeep Compass Trailhawk 4X4 to drive here, there, and everywhere for a week. Which includes Labor Day Weekend!
Now to settle on a spectacular spot Jim and I can visit during the long holiday weekend to showcase all the ruggedly gorgeous vehicle has to offer. Stay tuned for a forthcoming post sharing just exactly where that spectacular spot ends up being. And how the vehicle fared for the trip to and fro.
What the heck is this?
I have a fairly large backyard that has been described by some as Secret Garden-like... and by others as more along the lines of Where The Wild Things Are. In addition to the countless trees — which I literally have never counted — the space features some flowers, some squash, lots of weird weeds and lots of unidentified bushes.
One especially abundant sort of bush has berries that seem like they should be, could be, something I could harvest and turn into a jelly or jam or perhaps even a pie. But I have no idea what the berries are, and I really don't want to kill my friends and family by serving up a luscious-looking but terribly toxic treat.
With that in mind, does anyone know what the heck this bush might be, what the berries are?
If not, does anyone know if there's an app for that? For identifying bushes and berries and such?
I appreciate your input. As will my friends and family who might otherwise kick the bucket after I serve up the purple berries in some form of sweetness if they turn out to be poisonous prettiness.
Have a safe and special Labor Day weekend, my friends!
