Baby bump surprise and Grand Social No. 87 link party for grandparents
As many of you know, my third grandchild is due in June. Mommy-to-be (for the third time) Megan, in her fourth month of pregnancy, texted a photo to me Saturday of the baby bump.
This is the photo:
Ummm... She was sporting a tad more of a bump than I expected.
"Looks like twins!" Jim exclaimed when I showed him.
Now, as the mother of three females, I know darn well it's best to tread lightly anytime we're talking about weight gain — baby on the way or not. So neither my initial thought or Jim's would be a wise response to Megan.
So I texted back the ever tactful, "Wow!" I followed it up with a quick comment on the boys having just told me a few days before (during our FaceTime chat) that, no, they couldn't yet see the baby in Mommy's tummy. "I guess they took [my question] literally," I texted.
Megan threw a fit.
A fit of laughter!
Her response:
Yes, such is what long-distance grandmas put up with. And ignorant grandmas who had no idea there existed fake baby bumps for use while shopping for maternity fashions. (Be honest: Did you know they made such bumps?)
A witty segue — or even a slightly fitting segue — escapes me, so I'll just get right to it:
It's time for GRAND Social No. 87! Thank you for being here!
How it works:
- All grandparent bloggers are invited to add a link. You don't have to blog about grandparenting, just be a grandparent who blogs.
- To link up a post, copy the direct URL to the specific post — new or old — that you want to share, not the link to your blog's home page. Then click the blue button below marked "Add your link" and follow the directions.
- You can add up to three posts, but no duplicates, contests, giveaways, or Etsy sites, please.
- Adding a mention such as This post linked to the GRAND Social to your linked posts is appreciated. Or, you can post the GRAND Social button anywhere on your page using the following code:
- The GRAND Social linky accepts posts through Wednesday evening, so please come back to see those added after your first visit.
- If you're not a blogger, you have the pleasure of being a reader. Those sharing a link would be honored to have you visit, read and, if so moved, leave a comment even if just "Hey, stopping by from the GRAND Social." Bloggers who link are encouraged to visit and comment on the links of other bloggers, as well.
